President Trump signs executive order regarding censorship in social-media

US President Donald Trump accused some social media companies of censoring free speech arguing fact checking of his Tweets amounts to political bias. ’My executive order calls for new regulations under Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act to make it so that social media companies that engage in censoring any political conduct will not be able to keep their liability shield.’ Trump said.

Now these companies will have to appeal to the president by guaranteeing him that they will not censor anymore. Played them like a fiddle!

"Section 230 was not intended to allow a handful of companies to grow into titans controlling vital avenues for our national discourse under the guise of promoting open forums for debate, and then to provide those behemoths blanket immunity when they use their power to censor content and silence viewpoints that they dislike" 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏 Trump' you win all of the awards, and I'm still not tired of winning!

This is great news. These influential platforms must now declare what they are. Publishers or platforms, if the former then they are dead so it’s a matter of time before their worldview becomes secondary to the right to free speech - Trump played a blinder and knocked the libtards and lefties out of the park.

@Jon out of 22 banned "public" personas on twitter 21 were right wing

Ha! Platform or Publisher! You can't be both! They never should have been able to claim the privileges of two mutually exclusive classes.

Going to be so funny when this changes nothing and is still challenged in courts for the little it actually attempts to do. Either way, Drumpf loses all claims to being any kind of a 'defender of free speech' because using the government like this is in direct contravention of the #1A

Every company has and should rightly have the power to limit speech because free speech does not apply within private corporations. My company doesn't let me curse or say whatever I want on their systems or in person. If I breach their policy I am fired because I have no rights to free speech within a private corporation. The exact same applies to Twitter and Facebook.

Will I get my Twitter account back with my 10,000 followers still intact? I doubt it. It took years to build my profile only to have it taken away for calling a guy who imagined himself a woman "a guy". They said I "misgendered" him when in fact, I was properly gendering a guy who misgendered himself. I refused to accept the delusion.

fact checking is not censorship.

It's almost as if competition doesn't exist. Why are these Titans? Because everyone else is too lazy to take them on. To make their own. To compete?

So for those of you who arent aware, if Donald Trump removes the rule that protects buisnesses like Facebook and Twitter then this means that Facebook and Twitter can get shut down for keeping up lies and misinformation...which means Twitter and facebook will by law have to remove even more people (including Donald Trump) for spreading lies or misinformation...this also means you'll have to appeal to federal law to get your account back if you feel the platform wrongly removed you...which there will be a lot of people doing so that will clog the system and take months to years to get your account back... Him removing this rule is going to CAUSE Facebook and Twitter to literally clamp down on everything everyone says and remove them if it has the potential to even be misleading or fake...Donald Trump is legitimately unironically trying to ruin free speech on social media platforms and he isn't even being silenced, his speech can still be seen. The direct opposite of what Trump believes will happen when he uses this executive order will happen, more people are going to be removed...

CDA230 protects free speech by ensuring that social media companies don't get sued for what billions of different people say. without this protection, these sites will be forced to do MORE censoring to keep themselves safe from controversial statements.

Its time for social media PLATFORMS to start obeying the law and function as PLATFORMS if they dont abide by the 1st ammendment and allow fredom of speech from both sides equally they need to be shut down or face severe financial penalties. To all the neigh sayers don't forget that over the years they've accepted billions in tax dollars which comes from the tax paying of Americas. In my oppionion that makes them a public platform paid for by Americans, they should have to adhere to the first Ammendment.

Let’s not forget this guy allowed Alex Jones, Milo, and Gavin McInnes, his biggest supporters in 2016, to vanish from the web, 4 years ago and Trump did nothing to protect his base
