FBI’s top lawyer to leave bureau amid criticism over Russia probe

The FBI’s top lawyer, Boente, who was associated with the Justice Department for nearly 40 years and has been criticized for his role in the Russia investigation, is leaving the bureau. He recently served as the FBI’s general counsel. Prior to that, he was acting attorney general in Trump administration, a US attorney in Virginia and the acting head of the department’s national security division.
