On Tuesday, the music industry will observe a ’blackout day’ and halt their operations to reflect on the death of Floyd and the protests raging across the country. On Monday, MTV, and its ViacomCBS youth and music channels, including Comedy Central, CMT, and VH1, observed blackout at 5 pm for 8 minute, 46 seconds - the length of time a Minneapolis white police officer knelt on the neck of Floyd.
