India launches $6.65bn plan to boost electronics manufacturing

India launched a $6.65bn plan to boost electronics manufacturing. It would offer five global smartphone makers incentives to establish or expand domestic production. This includes a production-linked incentive (PLI) of additional sales of goods made locally over five years. Five Indian firms would also be selected for PLI scheme which could help India produce smartphones worth $133bn by 2025.
