US senator wants defense bill to ban use of military against peaceful protests

Sen. Tim Kaine (D) said he would introduce an amendment to the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), a bill setting policy for the Pentagon, to make it illegal for the president to use the military against protesters. ’I never thought we would have to use NDAA to make clear that the military shouldn’t be used as an agent of force against US citizens who are lawfully assembling,’ Kaine said.

These protests start out peaceful but grow ugly real quick. Hence why officers administer warnings to disperse then utilize tear gas to get people to leave. Riot control 101.

This is the DUMBEST thing I have ever heard. Yeah let's just have wild abundant reckless protesters run amuk. There is no such thing as a peaceful protest because we are crowded with idiots in every crook and cranny of every state and building. Taking away the line of defense just calls for a lawless society.

The military is not deployed for peaceful protests, they are deployed for plundering militant insurrections.

They are not peaceful. Military use would be appropriate to crackdown on rioters, arsonists and looters
