US workers file 1.9mn more jobless claims as crisis total tops 42mn

Around 1.9mn US citizens have applied for unemployment benefits last week as the Covid-19 economic crisis have put 42mn people out of job in less than three months. This statistic reported by the US Department of Labor continued its steady decline to fall below 2mn for first time since mid-Mar. Last week’s number still is ~triple the 665,000 claims seen at the height of Great Recession decade ago.

I wonder how many people have lost their small businesses and now they and their employees don't have jobs to return to. Remember that Target that was burned down? It doesn't make much of a dent in the corporation's profits but had put a heck of a lot of people without jobs.
