D-Day anniversary events canceled on Normandy beaches

The beaches of Normandy will be empty for the first time in 75-years as there will no D-Day veterans to mark the anniversary of the allied landings. The official commemorations will be aired online which will include a small ceremony and a flypast. The events have been canceled due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

Not forgotten... Not ever gonna forget how much u sacrificed for me... U are loved and cherished.... I spent the morning with a guy who served in Pattons general staff as a young... Lt... And then a son of a man I knew who approached me as a young cop on foot patrol... He said is it OK to ask you something and asked me if I knew what Utah beach was... Thank God I knew... And he said I was there... It was far worse than that saving private Ryan movie... And I asked if I could touch him and hug him to thank him... And he said the best thanks was to always remember that day..... He was a first Sargent and he stood in the blood in the water and mixed in the sand of his men and struggled with losing almost all of them.. Because he loved them and he couldn't stop... To mourn for them The world was in a far to greater danger... If to forget it would mean his men died for nothing... He said the nazis had to be stopped and France had to be freed... And no matter how scared he was gonna get off that beach..and do his job.. Not only to stop the nazis but to make sure his men's lives had not be wasted by the lack of courage that could cause failure......... He said we fought em to save humanity....and we will always fight em even if it took em to hell to have to stop them...... He said best thing about that Ryan film was it got that guy in it that hanks fellow to help get us the monument his men left on Utah earned even if they can't see it....... When

Very sad. I defy anyone to go to that cemetery, look at all the white crosses, with the military anthems of each branch of the military playing in succession in the background, and not bawl like a baby. I'm not for war, but some wars were necessary, and I'm extremely grateful for these sacrifices.
