Stock market jumps on surprisingly strong jobs report

Stocks surged Friday after a government report showed that employers added 2.5 million jobs in May and the jobless rate edged down. The Dow jumped more than 800 points, or nearly 3.22%, to 27,110. The broad-based S&P 500-stock index rose 2.6% while the tech-heavy Nasdaq composite gained 1.4% to 9,814, just a few points shy of a record high.
