Portland’s police chief, Jami Resch, resigned Monday amid criticism of her department’s handling of protests in Oregon’s largest city, and asked a black lieutenant to replace her. The Portland Police Bureau had been facing scrutiny over the lack of black leadership in its ranks, and 3 black civic groups had written a letter to Resch, Mayor Wheeler and council commissioners to address the issue.
She didn't say the guy wasn't worthy of the position. She did say he was who was needed right now, and perhaps going forward.
Maybe Ted Wheeler should find a black person to take his job. At this point Ted is persona non grata even to the left.
