The US Navy announced on Tuesday that it is working on an order to restrict the display of the Confederate flag from all public spaces and work areas aboard Navy installations, ships, aircraft and submarines. Sweet, now racism is over.

Just wait until the American flag is targeted. It is ofcourse tied historically to 'horrible' probably Homophobic things. The flag will have rainbow stripes instead of red and white.

Good. It belongs in a museum, not in public areas. I've also never met a person with a Confederate flag who isn't a complete racist. The stupid "state rights" argument is a blatant bait and switch.

Should've been long ago,I would be just as upset if they allowed a USSR or Nazi G. Flag to be flown. Commemorating USAs enemies shouldnt be allowed.

All political garments apart from official US colours should be banned.

Why would a nation’s navy fly a flag of a defunct foreign state?

Douggie 3 months

It is about time!!! It is 2020 for crying out loud!!! Is it still displayed by army or marines I wonder...? Maybe we can rename some bases while we are at it?

Shouldn’t all flags of traitors and losers be covered already?

In the name of Unit cohesion this makes sense but I would hope our sailors have thicker skin then that.

I can rationalize the removal from areas on ships, offices, and public spots. However, mandating the removal from non military personal items like cars, shirts, etc seems like an overstretch that will create more problems than it solves. In any case, I now am curious what other symbols have been banned by the military.
