BHP granted approval to destroy Australian Aboriginal sites

Australia’s Aboriginal Affairs Minister confirmed Thurs. that mining company BHP has been given approval to destroy up to 40 indigenous heritage sites. The mine is on traditional land of Banjima people, who signed a land-use agreement in 2015 which included financial benefits and protected 72 culturally significant sites. This site is a part of BHP’s South Flank iron ore mine’s A$4.5bn expansion.
