UK drops plans for full border checks on goods from EU

The UK govt has dropped plans for full border checks on goods coming from EU from 1 Jan 2021 over fears of economic impact of Covid-19. It will unveil plans for Brexit borders on Friday that will represent a significant shift from that declared by Cabinet Office minister Michael Gove’s in February which said that border checks would be mandatory for everyone who imports from the EU from next year.

Can’t see this going down well with the brexiteers. Sure, Boris will try to keep them onside by claiming he Had to backtrack cause of COVID (which is actually true) but how long can he keep his supporters on-side if he keeps making decisions like this?
