Amazon bans government use of its Facial Recognition without further regulation

Amazon has joined other tech companies such as IBM in not allowing the government to use their facial recognition without further legal restrictions. This comes after growing concerns that the technology would lead to loss of individual freedoms. The technology will continue to be used for humanitarian efforts such as the International Center for Missing and Exploited Children.

I'm very concerned about facial recognition and other tracking being used by both govt and corporations. There are lots of nefarious uses for it. But I don't like this move by Amazon. The notion that our corporate overlords will protect us from our government overlords would be hilarious if it weren't so insidious. https://newrepublic.com/article/150938/amazon-power-federal-reserve
