China sentences Australian to death for drug trafficking

A Chinese court has sentenced an Australian national to death for drug trafficking. The verdict threatens to strain further the relations between Beijing and Canberra. According to Chinese media, the man, identified as Cam Gillespie, was arrested at Guangzhou Baiyun airport, north-west of Hong Kong, in December 2013 with more than 7.5 kilos of meth in his checked luggage.
