10% of Rikers inmates re-arrested after COVID-19 release: NYPD data

Nearly 10 percent of inmates who were released from Rikers Island following concerns about the spread of the novel coronavirus since March have since been arrested. Data with the NYPD shows that of the nearly 2,500 people released, 250 have committed approximately 450 crimes since being released.
