36 alien races could be communicating in our galaxy, claims study

As per a new study led by the University of Nottingham, 36 alien civilizations in the Milky Way are actively communicating by broadcasting radio signals into space. The estimate is based on an assumption that intelligent life would evolve on other planets in the same way that it has done on Earth, taking five billion years. The assumption is called the Astrobiological Copernican Limit.

Let me save you reading a dumb article: some scientists used the Drake equation to estimate 8-2900 planets with "communicating" life. It really isn't any deeper or more meaningful than that. Basically just repeating Carl Sagan's cosmos, but on tax payer dime. Meanwhile astronomers are unsure whether planet nine is a gas giant, a black hole or non-existent... In our own solar system... Cosmology is kind of a joke a lot of the time.
