Supreme Court declines to review standard that shields law enforcement

US Supreme Court on Monday declined to hear cases that asked the court to revisit its past decisions on ’qualified immunity’. In recent years, legal scholars, judges on all sides of the ideological spectrum have criticized ’qualified immunity,’ arguing that it is not well grounded and it too often shields officials from accountability. With the killing of George Floyd, it has gained public notice.
