US retail sales surge record 17.7% in May

US retail sales jumped back in May as the economy started to reopen. Retail sales jumped by 17.7% in May which was significantly higher than economists expectations of 8.5% increase. The revised retail sales for April reported a decline of 14.7%. However although the rebound witnessed in May, sales were still 6% lower compared to the same month in 2019.

To only be 6% lower than last year, despite the months long extreme high unemployment numbers is great news! Folks gonna hopefully all get their old jobs back and that'll be a huge boost for morale.

Ofcourse sales are up. They just started reopening everything. So, everyone is stocking up again and getting what they need, that they wasnt able to get before. I'll be optimistic when sales stay up for at least 2 more months.
