CIA’s ’lax’ security led to massive theft of hacking tools in 2017, report says

The theft of CIA hacking tools in 2017 by one of the agency’s own officers exposed a culture of ’woefully lax’ security around the agency’s dangerous cyber-weapons, according to an internal report. The report said the CIA’s Center for Cyber Intelligence employees were so ’focused on building cyber weapons’ that they neglected to also prepare a mitigation packages if those tools were exposed.
