Germany reports 657 new coronavirus cases linked to slaughterhouse

German authorities in the western region of Guetersloh said that at least 657 people at the Toennies Group plant in Rheda-Wiedenbrueck had been infected with Covid-19. On backdrop of this, the German labour union called for an end to the practice of using subcontractors in Germany’s meat industry as workers employed by subcontractors face unhygienic working and living conditions.
