Obelisk monument to the Confederacy removed from Georgia square on judge’s order

After a campaign led by community groups since 2017 to remove an obelisk erected to honor the ’Lost Cause’ of the Confederacy, DeKalb County Judge Clarence Seeliger ordered the 30-foot obelisk in Decatur Square to be removed and placed in storage. On June 19th (Juneteenth) the stone obelisk was removed amid chants from onlookers who were kept a safe distance by sheriff’s deputies.

While I don't like them removing monuments, this is the appropriate way for it to happen.
