FDA warns nine hand sanitizer brands may contain toxic methanol

The FDA has warned that nine types of hand sanitizer manufactured by Mexico-based Eskbiochem SA may contain methanol, a type of alcohol that can be toxic when applied to the skin or ingested. In an advisory, the agency said it had tested samples of two products, Lavar Gel and CleanCare No Germ, and found they had 81% and 28% methanol.
