South Dakota governor pledges to protect Mount Rushmore amid statue debate

South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem (R) on Tuesday promised to defend Mount Rushmore amid a series of protests against slavery across the country that has moved quickly from targeting monuments of Confederate generals to those of former presidents. Responding to a tweet from conservative columnist Ben Shapiro, Noem said that the destruction of the federal monument would not happen on her watch.

Thank you Gov. Noem. Hopefully between SD law enforcement and federal Park Service no one will be dumb enough to attempt defacing this monument. Plus if I recall correctly, Team America has its base in there somewhere... 🇺🇲

Glad to see the South Dakota Governor standing up for American monuments.

No American would rightly destroy American history. Can we get rid of these alien things that keep suggesting we take down our great Country? All lives matter, just not the lives of those hating on America. Move yourself to North Korea, you'd fit right in.

I have this sudden image of somebody on Washington’s head with a long rifle and a sign that says “ Try somethin”

I’d almost be interested in watching some of these scrawny Antifa punks with ropes trying to pull Rushmore down.... that being said considering the cost to build the monument you better not touch it

HaHa! It would be GREAT if the Left did actually try something with Rushmore, it would doom them.

They would want to replace it with MLK, MalcolmX, Al Sharpton and Jessie Jackson

It would be cool to see MLK up there, or something similar. Sure, he wasnt a president, but what he stood for is widely seen as positive, and absolutely influential of american society. it would please the right people too

I hope. The left of today are proving to be very weak when it comes to not bending the knee.
