UK on track for V-shaped recovery, says Bank of England economist

The UK economy is on course for a ’V-shaped’ recovery after a faster-than-expected rebound from the lockdown slump, according to the Bank of England’s chief economist Andy Haldane. He said UK was benefiting from a surge in consumer spending after restrictions were eased, and added if the rebound continued on the same path then the loss in GDP might be at 8% compared to the 17% forecast last month.
