LAPD budget slashed by $150 million

The Los Angeles City Council voted to cut the LAPD’s budget by $150M as it finalizes its overall budget for the 2020-21 fiscal year. The council had initially approved a $133M reduction last week but then upped it to $150M. A portion of the money will be used to limit the furlough of municipal employees, while the rest would be invested in underserved areas and communities of color.
