Mother charged in fatal mauling of infant son by family dog

An Indiana woman has been charged after her family’s pit bull fatally mauled her 26-day-old son. Jennifer Connell, 38, of Lafayette, was charged with three counts of neglect of a dependent. Police said Connell was at home when the pit bull began fighting with a beagle-mix dog in the house. The baby’s teenage brother separated the dogs, and that’s when the pit bull attacked the baby.

In my city. That part of town is very trashy and crime riddled. And while I love pitbulls this one was known to be an aggressive problem both with the other animals and the humans. It should never have been inside the home with the infant.
