Supreme Court allows Booking.com to trademark its name

The US Supreme Court ruled on Tuesday that businesses such as Booking.com can get federal protection for names that center on a commonly used word, overruling a federal agency that found it too generic to merit protection. The court said consumers understand that Booking.com refers to a particular company, and not online hotel reservation services in general.
