Putin wins referendum allowing him to rule until 2036

Russian President Vladimir Putin, 67, could continue to hold his post till 2036 as the majority of the voters approved amendments to the country’s constitution allowing the president for two six-year terms. The reform will reset Putin’s term limits to zero in 2024, when his current term ends. With all the ballots counted, 77.9% voted for the reform package and 21.3% against.

No. Putin, unlike the boogeyman (which they confuse him for), is mortal. He will not rule Russia forever. He will, however, rule Russia for most if not all of the rest of his life.
