Washington Redskins to undertake ’thorough review’ of team’s name

The Washington Redskins on Friday announced that they would undertake a ’thorough review’ of the team’s name, as it has widely been perceived as being derogatory in nature. Dan Snyder, the owner of the Washington Redskins has previously defended the name, but has recently come under intense pressure from sponsors.

More whitewashing of history. The Redskin logo was actually done by a American Indian. Naming them the Redskins was in homage to the American Indians and their bravery and strength in battle. It is a way to remember their heritage and celebrate admirable qualities. We can't keep removing the past and erasing the history of these marginalized people. Remembering American Indians for their bravery or their prowess in battle is not racism. Racism is believing one race is superior to another. People need to quit white knighting for others and actually doing damage to the heritage and history of those people.

A WaPo poll showed that 9 out of 10 Native Americans aren't offended by the team's name.So I have to ask, is FedEx merely doing this to appear tough on racism?
