Ecuador indigenous group holds hostage police, official; demand return of corpse

An indigenous group in the Ecuadorean Amazon has taken two cops and a state official hostage to demand authorities return the body of a community leader. Authorities allege the leader died of COVID-19 and was subsequently buried in accordance with international protocols. Members of the group insist that the leader did not die of COVID-19 and they be allowed to give him a traditional burial.
