Need for federal mandate on masks dismissed by White House Chief of Staff

Mark Meadows, the Chief of Staff of the White House on Monday said that a national mandate which would require people in the US to wear masks was ’not in order’. Maintaining that the decision to require wearing of masks is a ’state to state issue’, Mr. Meadows also said that one reason why cases of COVID-19 were increasing was due to increased testing.

Increased testing = increased cases. This, under no circumstances, means that if testing had not been ramped up, the surge would have vanished. It would simply have gone *undetected*. Wearing masks is a *necessary* measure to ensure you dont spread the virus to others.
