’Walk a mile in my legs’, Sen. Duckworth hits back at Tucker Carlson

Sen. Duckworth hit back at Fox News host Tucker Carlson after he criticized her for supporting a ’national dialogue’ on removing memorials to George Washington. Calling Tucker a ’deeply silly and unimpressive person’, Duckworth tweeted, ’Does @TuckerCarlson want to walk a mile in my legs and then tell me whether or not I love America?’. Duckworth, a combat veteran, lost her legs in 2004.

Hysterical hyperbole is certainly on brand for Tucker. If his argument wasn't so weak he wouldn't feel the need to resort to such childish exaggeration.

Many veterans do not join the military out of love of country but for the benefits or simply just for adventure. While I was in I would say that it was about 25 percent of people that were there just for the benefits. That is fine btw but being a veteran doesn't mean you are now immune from criticism or no one can question your love of country. As a matter of fact, had I joined for free college and then lost my legs in a war everyone says wasn't nessesary, I might be a tad bitter at the country myself.
