Germany seeks female boardroom quota deal

The German minister for women said Wednesday she hopes the coalition government will soon agree a quota for women on the executive boards of Germany’s top listed companies. While women made up 34% of the supervisory boards of Germany’s companies, they only accounted for 10% of executive positions. Chancellor Merkel expressed her support last week for setting a quota for executive boards.

Good decision. The glass ceiling is a real pain, and hinders possibilities of fair representation based on merit at the top. Even if a woman is as qualified as a male executive, it is highly likely that a male candidate will be chosen over here. Wonder why the 'merit brigade' does not comment on this, ever.
