China targets school books to instill ’ideological purity’ and patriotism

A nationwide exercise of book cleansing in schools has been held in China as all books which are deemed to be politically incorrect are being removed, now that schools have opened for the first time since the pandemic. This step taken by the Chinese government can be seen as President Xi Jinping’s push to instill ’ideological purity’ as well as patriotism in the education system of China.
