Australian PhD students hit hard due to pandemic

A study from the University of Sydney involving 1,020 students revealed that 45% students expect to be forced to suspend or withdraw from studies in the next six months owing to lack of funds. Five per cent of students are currently or about to experience homelessness and 11% are skipping meals. The study is yet to be peer-reviewed. Lead author Rebecca Johnson called the stats a cause for alarm.

Assuming this is a true assessment and a peer-review turns up nothing out of the ordinary.... this is horrible. No student should be starving themself to make it longer, or seeing their homes be talen away as they no longer have any income to keep them. It just seems nightmarish due to the situation going on. Just goes to show the sort of issue that closing economies creates.
