It's not a law enforcement academy. My local police department does the same thing. It's to educate the public on police policy. It does not educate the public how to perform police tasks, but explains those tasks and their necessity to help people understand why and what those actions involve. They provide the same firearms training and scenario based training so they can see how decisions and tough choices are reached by officers. Many journalists that went to the class could not make the split second decisions that officers face in such scenarios. I don't see this as a bad thing, as it seems to simply be education, not vigilante training. It's simply a tool used by law enforcement to educate the public on their job, and create advocates against the keyboard warriors in journalism that don't understand even basic differences in holds used to stop violent suspects.

Not a fan of this, leave law enforcement to the professionals or we'll end up with more situations like Ahmaud Arbery
