Romney accuses Trump of ’historic corruption’ after Stone commutation

Two Republican Senators including Mitt Romney condemned President Trump’s decision to commute the prison sentence of his longtime confidant Roger Stone. ’Unprecedented, historic corruption’, Romney wrote on Twitter Saturday. Separately, Rep. Pat Toomey noted that while Trump had the authority to grant clemency, commuting Stone’s sentence was a ’mistake’ due to the severity of the charges.

Justice shouldn’t be partisan. If the common man committed Stone’s crimes, we likely would be in prison for 7 years. The president’s friend should not be treated differently.

Meh, it is critique worthy for sure, but calling it "historic corruption" is overtly hyperbolic when considering some of the previous individuals who have been pardoned, or sentences commuted, by Presidents.
