Celebration, candlelight vigil to mark the anniversary of George Floyd’s death

Supporters, activists and his family will honor George Floyd with a series of celebrations of his life and marches Tuesday, to mark a year since he was killed by a Minneapolis police officer. Marches are planned across the US. Floyd’s sister, his daughter Gianna and Gianna’s mother, Roxie Washington, are expected to visit the White House at the invitation of President Biden.

I'm not trying to be insensitive, but how can people grieve for an entire year over the wrongful death of a rapist drug addict they've never even met before?? I just don't get it. Obviously I'm not talking about his immediate family etc. I'm talking specifically about all the "woke" people who had literally never even heard his name prior to his death.
