Last minute appeals likely as imminent execution blocked by federal judge

Tanya Chutkan, a US District Judge in Washington D.C. ruled that all pending federal executions, including on set for Monday afternoon, would be put on hold. The judge also questioned the government for having reportedly tried to rush through the process by setting short execution dates. The judge said that doing so prevented several inmates from being able to fully litigate their appeals.
