Tokyo may raise Covid-19 alert on second wave of infections

Tokyo is considering raising its alert for Covid-19 infections to the highest of four levels, after a spike in cases to record numbers in the Japanese capital. Fearing a second wave of infections spreading from the capital, local municipalities and opposition lawmakers also urged the central government to suspend a major travel aid campaign ’Go To’ aimed at boosting domestic tourism.

Even during a national state of emergency in April, there was no lockdown in Japan of the type seen in Europe." Makes sense. Curtailing economic activity during a lockdown has has disastrous consequences, as has been evidenced from across the world.
