Researchers warn of ’jaw dropping’ crash in global fertility rate

Researchers at the University of Washington’s Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation warned that the number of kids being born worldwide will drop dramatically by the end of this century. The average fertility rate is predicted to dip to 1.7 in 2100 from 2.4 children per woman in 2017. In 1950, the average was 4.7 children. 23 nations are expected to see their populations halve by 2100.

This has been known for a VERY long time now. Industrialized nations with access to medical care, vaccinations, a cheap food results in much lower birth rates. The myth of overpopulation is exactly that - a myth. The reality is that the world is facing a massive economic constriction in the not too far future caused by a large elderly population collecting pensions, social security, welfare, etc... combined with a smaller set of working adults contributing to those pensions and government aid. Japan, US, UK, etc are all facing this.
