North-Eastern India ravaged by floods; COVID-19 cases surge in the country

Senior officials said that millions of people in the eastern states of India have been forced to live in makeshift shelters despite the risk of the novel coronavirus disease. This is because floods caused by the monsoons have ravaged the region. COVID-19 has infected more than a million in India. Floods in North-East India have killed 10 people while more than 70 others have gotten injured.

This is an almost yearly disaster where several successive governments have failed to devise a plan of action . They have been constructing embankments as a sign of their activity, and the private sector benefits from both construction and maintenance contracts. Unfortunate, that in India, this doesn't even make the national top headlines at all.
