UN says Yemen tanker oil spill could be four times worse than Exxon Valdez

A tanker moored off the Western coast of Yemen is at the risk of sinking or exploding at any time. The rusting and neglected 1,188 foot tanker is laden with around 48 million gallons of oil. Warnings have been given out by a variety of environmental experts regarding a leak in any of its storage tanks as they hold more than four times the oil spilled during the 1989 Exxon Valdez disaster.

One has to ask, at what point will this upcoming oil spill invite a much needed forceful international intervention whether or not the rebels comply? It is supposed to contain 1.1m barrels of crude and is 4 times worse than Exxon Valdez for God's sake.
