Bishops around the world have been told by the Vatican that they should report clergy sex crimes to the police. This statement came from the Vatican in one of its latest efforts to compel the leaders of churches to protect minors from predator priests. Detailed canonical norms have been in place for nearly two decades but have been ignored by some of the bishops in order to protect priests.
That NYT headline tho. Apparently saying, "call the police" isn't good enough. What do they expect?
