Supreme Court deals major blow to ex-felons right to Vote In Florida

The US Supreme Court declined to overturn an ruling that will prevent many ex-felons from voting in Nov. The case will be heard in August but the voter registration deadline will pass before it is decided. In 2018, nearly two-thirds of the Florida electorate voted to amend the state constitution to allow ex-felons to vote after they completed their parole or probation periods.

If there is any attempt of reformation or rehabilitation for ex-felons, shouldn't the right to vote be a top priority to ensure that? I mean, if this is being delayed or in some ways denied, then have we finally gotten around to accepting that prisons are just places to punish and nothing else?
