US Army forced to stop tricking viewers with fake giveaways by Twitch

Fake game controller giveaways were used by the US Army Twitch channel in order to direct people to their recruitment form. The channel has hence been reprimanded by the platform for the same. The US Army, Navy and Air Force all have dedicated eSports teams which stream on Twitch and an automated chat prompt on their channels offered a chance to win the Xbox Elite Series 2.

The Army acted stupidly, they should have done what they advertised. A weekly contest should have been streamed live it would have drawn 100s of games and 1,000s of viewers. The controllers they advertised are $200 the army could give out dozens every week without affecting their recruiting budget. Quite the waste opportunity and would have avoided all the bad PR.
