Fear of a second wave of the coronavirus pushes Urumqi into a lockdown

The entire city of Urumqi in China was sealed after 17 new coronavirus cases were confirmed. More than 600 flights to and from Urumqi were grounded and the city’s subway services were suspended. The city which is the capital of the western region of Xinjiang is home to 3.5 people. Social media coverage shows deserted streets as all residents were ordered to stay indoors.

Xinjiang is where majority of China's Uyghur Muslims are. That is one of the major issues the international community are raising right now, 2nd wave is probably an excuse for a new crackdown there, further preventing the flow of information.
