Display of Confederate flag on military bases banned by Pentagon

The Pentagon released a memo on Friday which disallows the display of the Confederate flag on military installations. The Pentagon released a memo to this effect which avoids the mention of an explicit ban and does not refer to the controversial flag, too. The memo was signed by Defense Secretary Mark Esper, and details the kind of flags that can be displayed at military installations.

Now this one I am ok with. Normally the banning of any symbol would be a violation of freedom of speech/expression. However the military is concerned about morale and unit coherency so those concerns, in this case, can supersede one's 1st amendment right. The ruling's language doesn't mention the flag specifically but talks about flags that cause division. This should apply to antifa or BLM banners as well.
