Trader Joe’s to remove ’racist’ ethnic food branding

Trader Joe’s will remove brand names such as Trader José’s, Arabian Joe’s and Trader Ming’s that critics say are racist and ’perpetuates harmful stereotypes.’The decision was taken after a petition created earlier this month, with more than 2,000 signatures, took aim at the grocery chain’s ’ethnic foods’ and noted that they belie ’a narrative of exoticism that perpetuates harmful stereotypes.’

If you think "Trader Jose" is racist, you have no clue what racism means.

I was in a free trade organic fair wage grocery earlier this week... They had a cereal with a gorilla on it. I thought of anti-racist remarks a leftist would say. Then I saw the same cereal brand (a different flavour) have a Rhesus monkey, and thought... Soon, they will come for you too. Why can't tasty cereal with monkey faces on it be left alone?

Wow really, it's racist because they KNOW Joe is the English version of the name, but they phrase this as Trader Joe's saying this is the norm, ergo other names are bad. You will not find Joe in China, I have not actually even meet any one who picked Joe as an English name either. Trader Joe's are saying their food is inspired by a culture not the race. So maybe you are Chinese and called Joe in the west, but you are part of the western culture not the Eastern culture, where no one is called Joe. It's highly common for Eastern countries to give food and produces American, German, British, Italian, Japanese etc, names to present an idea of what the product will be (or to just lie and make it sound better) . Because people know these cultures and know what to expect. If they called it something that didn't recognise the cultural origin, the SJW's would just call it appropriation. Maybe they should just call all the food "white people bad", and they'd be covered right up into the Marxist revolution, as the CEOs are dragged through the streets, screaming their virtue signalling allegiance.

Started by a 17 year old whose probably white and I bet didn't bother asking anyone if they were offended before starting her "crusade".

Maybe base the changes on sales. If it's not selling, maybe, just maybe people are so offended by the logo that they refuse outright to buy it. Or maybe they don't care and that's why your still selling the products every day.

It's hard to read the fucking stupidity of people complaining about Trader Joe's branding of food. I laugh at these fools. Plus, the Huff Post is trash.
