Civil rights icon and congressman John Lewis dies

Civil rights icon and long time congressman, John Lewis, has died aged 80. The veteran Democratic politician announced in December that he had been diagnosed with advanced pancreatic cancer. Lewis was the youngest and last survivor of the Big Six civil rights activists, a group led by Martin Luther King Jr. Lewis turned to politics in 1981, when he was elected to the Atlanta City Council.
